Day 122/365
Through Saturday, February 1, 2020, you can get 10% one item at Target when you use your Target REDcard, either in store or online.
Target REDcard
While I don’t use my Target REDcard very often, it comes in handy for deals like this one. Basically, there are two versions of REDcard, either a debit card, which is linked to your checking account, or a credit card, which is, well, like a credit card with a monthly payment and interest if you don’t pay the balance. Obviously, I don’t think you should ever pay interest, so my recommendation would be to get the debit card version and not run the risk of a late payment, interest, etc.
Download the App
The Target app is a necessity when you are a Target shopper. This is where you will find Target Circle (formerly Cartwheel) deals, category coupons, and exclusive offers like this one. You can also load gift cards here, and your REDcard is automatically added to your account. You can edit your Wallet in the app to use your preferred method of payment at checkout, ie, REDcard or Target gift cards.
The Deal
With this deal, you will need to go to the Wallet tab of the app and check the Saved Offers section. Before you shop, check the exclusions since there are always things that Target cannot discount per the manufacturer, and this offer has a ton of exclusions. I doubt if you can get 10% off in addition to your regular 5% off with your REDcard. However, you might try to use gift cards instead of your REDcard at checkout to see if they work. Read on to find out why you might want to use Target gift cards.
Target Gift Cards
Instead of using my REDcard at checkout, I like to use Target gift cards. When Target had gift cards on sale for 10% off in December, I stocked up in order to enjoy 10% off throughout the year. When (if) they run out, I’ll buy gift cards at an office supply store with my Chase Ink Business Plus. (See my Chase Ultimate Rewards article to learn how to maximize your spending.) While the REDcard saves 5% off your purchase, I can get 5x rewards with my Chase Ink card instead, PLUS get 1% back in Target Circle savings!
